Dean Huijsen would be an intelligent signing for Man Utd this summer

Manchester United are likely to reinforce their defensive department this summer and there is a possibility that they could sign more than one centre-back.

Juventus’ Gleison Bremer appears the prime target for the hierarchy and it could cost between €60-70 million to persuade the Bianconeri to sell the right-footed star.

Alongside Bremer, the club may also look at purchasing a younger centre-back with potential. In our view, Dean Huijsen would be an intelligent signing without big investment.

The 18-year-old is currently on a season-long loan deal at Roma from the Bianconeri. He has already made a huge impression in his first eight appearances for the club.

The teenager has made only three starts in seven league appearances, but he has been impressive with a pass accuracy of 89 per cent while making over two clearances per game.

The Dutchman has also caught the eye with his aerial presence due to his obvious height advantage (6ft 6in). On top of this, he has chipped in with two goals including a stunner against Frosinone.

Huijsen is still early into his senior career, but the Bianconeri are said to be open to selling him to balance their books. They value him in the region of €25-30 million.

United are one of his admirers. Huijsen would be a clever acquisition, considering he can pass effectively with either foot. He could be seen as Lisandro Martinez’s deputy.

The club may still need to be pro-active in the player’s pursuit, considering Tottenham Hotspur are also in the race. Just like United, Spurs are weighing up an approach.
