Manchester United announced their squad for next season on their official website today. The curious thing about the squad announcement comes in the goalkeeping section, with Dean Henderson’s picture featuring alongside David De Gea and Sergio Romero.
Henderson has impressed while on loan at Sheffield United last campaign and the season prior and has been the league’s best keeper ahead of word-class shot-stoppers Allison, Ederson and his teammate Dea Gea.
Having returned from United it might seem obvious for Henderson to be added to United’s first-team list, however, it is interesting to see his promotion considering he remained listed as an U23s player on the website throughout his two loan spells at the Bramall Lane.
The English goalkeeper signed a new contract extension last with United keeping him at Old Trafford until 2022.
Henderson is said to want the Number 1 jersey for the United side next season or has reportedly desired to leave the club in search of first-team football next season.
However, his inclusion in the first team suggests he could either stay or happily leave on another loan spell, preferably with a foreign club.
