Inter Milan are keen on signing former Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, according to the Daily Record.
The Serie A club are looking for a new goalie after Andre Onana joined the Red Devils to reunite with his former Ajax manager Erik ten Hag.
Inter have spoken with De Gea and have offered him £4.3 million per year, but the Spaniard has rejected it, calling a halt on initial discussions as he wants an annual after-tax salary of £8.7m.
The 32-year-old earned a net salary of £13m per year at Old Trafford, but both parties could not agree to terms of an extension.
De Gea’s preference would be a return to La Liga after spending 12 seasons in England, but not many clubs in Europe can meet his demands.
The Saudi Pro League is the most likely destination that could match his salary demands, and he has been linked.
However, it appears the Man United legend wants to remain on the continent for much longer.
De Gea will need to lower his demands to have a chance of securing his dream move to a European side.
Remaining in England is out of his options having spent 12 campaigns with the Red Devils.
His former club Atletico Madrid cannot afford to pay what he wants, while Real Madrid and Barcelona do not need another goalkeeper.
De Gea was the highest-paid goalie in the world while with Man United but will be unable to retain that position unless he moves to Saudi Arabia.
