The transfer saga of David de Gea from Manchester United to Real Madrid appears to have re-opened as reports in Spain claim the 26-year-old feels this summer is the best time to move.
Zinedine Zidane’s side have had some real problems in goal this season, and several others areas of the pitch, with neither Keylor Navas or Kiko Casilla convincing.
De Gea has been on Real Madrid’s radar for years and nearly joined them in the summer of 2015 but for a problem with the Spanish giants’ fax machine.
The 26-year-old has established himself as Spain’s number one during his seven years at Old Trafford, and is now arguably the best goalkeeper in the world, winning the Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup and EFL Cup with us.
Spanish outlet Don Balon are reporting that Real Madrid are expected to come in for David de Gea again in the summer. The report goes on to claim that our goalkeeper even feels that this summer is his best chance to move to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.
Whether Jose Mourinho would accept an offer for de Gea remains to be seen though. The Spaniard has been immense during the Portuguese coach’s 18 months in charge and is simple irreplaceable.
What’s more, we’ve been strongly linked with Alvaro Morata (now at Chelsea), Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale from Real Madrid and nothing has materialised.
