Manchester United are on the cusp of missing out their their summer transfer target.
According to a report, Crystal Palace are preparing a £30m bid to sign Ismaila Sarr from Watford.
Palace boss Roy Hodgson is believed to have targetted Sarr as an option to bolster their attacking department further.
The London-based club started their Premier League campaign with two 1-0 and 3-1 victories over Southampton and Manchester United respectively.
Since their unexpected result against the Red Devils, Palace have lost their way, enduring 2-1 and 4-0 losses at the hands of Everton and Chelsea in succession.
Hence, there has been an interest amongst the south Londoners of obtaining the services of Sarr from the Championship side Watford before 16th October, the deadline day of the domestic transfer window.
Manchester United were interested in signing Sarr but got priced out on the dying stages of the international transfer window by the player’s £45m price tag.
United reportedly made an offer of a loan deal with an option for a permanent transfer worth £25m fee at the end of the loan spell. However, the deal got rejected by Watford. And the move never materialised.
Neither did they complete the signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund, nor they went with all they had for Sarr.
However, it would be interesting to see whether the newly-relegated side accepts Crystal Palace’s £30m bid, especially considering the Senegal international is under Watford’s contract until June 2024.
