Jadon Sancho has struggled to force his way into the starting XI at Manchester United since joining them from Borussia Dortmund in 2021.
The England international forward started 20 Premier League games in his debut campaign with the Red Devils and 21 times in the competition last term.
His three league appearances this season have come from the bench and he has fallen out with manager Erik ten Hag.
Sancho has bagged nine goals and six assists in 58 league games for Man United, with a period of renaissance coming under interim manager Ralf Rangnick.
However, there was tension with Cristiano Ronaldo over playing style and personality, which was exposed in a meeting between the players and Rangnick in February 2022.
According to The Athletic, Ronaldo had arranged the talks and lobbied for the manager to switch formations from 4-3-3 to playing two up top – potentially leaving Sancho on the bench.
However, Rangnick argued that such a shift in system would hamper his form as the 23-year-old had scored two goals in three games from the right wing at the time.
Sancho ended that season with seven goals in 41 games across all competitions but did not play regularly due to the presence of the Portuguese.
Man United were willing to sell him last week with the transfer windows still open in Saudi Arabia and Turkey, but approaches for him were knocked back by Sancho and his representatives.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for the winger at the Old Trafford club. Although he has deleted his social media post where he lashed out at Ten Hag, forcing his way back into the starting XI could prove very difficult.
Sancho has a chance to break into the line-up with Antony currently unavailable having been told to stay away from the club until further notice.
Whether he has what it takes to convince Ten Hag on the pitch and in training remains to be seen.
