Could Ronaldo to Juventus mean Man Utd sign £97m-rated star?

Former-Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has been strongly linked with a move to Italian giants Juventus over the past couple of days.

It is being reported that the Serie A champions could fork out as much as £88 million for the 33-year-old Portuguese superstar this summer.

However, for Real Madrid to sell their star, they would no doubt have to have a replacement lined up.  Juventus’ link to Ronaldo appears to be coming off the back of the Spanish giants being linked with moves for Paris Saint-Germain’s Neymar and AS Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe.  PSG actually have the option to sign Mbappe after the teenager spent last season on loan in the French capital.

Real Madrid would need to splash some serious cash to bring in either Neymar or Mbappe, let alone both in the same summer.  To do so they would need to make fees available in order to comply with Financial Fair Play.  The sale of Ronaldo would certainly go a long way towards that.

Likewise, for Juventus to splash £88 million on Ronaldo they would likely need to cash in on a player or two this summer.

One player who could be overshadowed with the arrival of Ronaldo at the Allianz Stadium is Argentine attacker Paulo Dybala.  The 24-year-old has previously been linked with a move to Manchester United, with the Manchester Evening News reporting back in April that we were the favourites to sign the Juventus player.

According to Transfermarkt, Paulo Dybala has a market value of €110 million (£97m) which would certainly be affordable to us.  What’s more, the player is young and very talented – he’s certainly add something to our attack.  Whether Jose Mourinho would be willing to make a move for the South American remains to be seen, and it would certainly rely on Juventus signing Cristiano Ronaldo in the first place.

Dybala can play both centre forward and attacking midfield equally and netted 22 goals in 33 Serie A appearances (26 starts) last season, adding a further six assists.  He spent the majority of his time in the number 10 position, with fellow countryman Gonzalo Higuain playing the striker role.
