Confirmed: Shirt numbers handed out to new signings

The international transfer window has opened today, meaning that both Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are officially on the books at Manchester United.

Pacey winger James arrives from Swansea City where he scored four goals and added seven assists in his 33 Championship appearances (28) starts last season. The 21-year-old predominantly played on the left wing for the Swans, though was used on the right on occasions.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka became the club’s fifth most-expensive transfer of all-time when we agreed a £50 million deal with Crystal Palace last week. The right-back was a regular for the Eagles under Roy Hodgson last season and recently competed in the European Under-21 Championship for England in Italy and San Marino last month. It’s just a matter of time before he becomes a senior international.

The 21-year-old is strong and doesn’t let too many wingers past him – the complete opposite of Ashley Young and an upgrade on Antonio Valencia, who departed back to his home country of Ecuador this summer.

It has now been confirmed that Daniel James will wear the number 21 shirt – worn by Ander Herrera last season. Wan-Bissaka will wear the number 29 shirt, the same number he wore for Crystal Palace last season, as confirmed in his first interview with the club.
