Confirmed: Man Utd lineup vs Stoke

Manchester United are looking to go back to the top of the Premier League table this evening with a victory at Stoke City.

Mark Hughes’ Stoke City stand in our way with his side having beaten Arsenal and drawn at West Brom after their opening day defeat at Everton.

We have a UEFA Champions League tie at home to FC Basel on Tuesday to consider.

The two teams for this evening’s game are confirmed as:

Manchester United

David de Gea; Antonio Valencia, Phil Jones, Eric Bailly, Matteo Darmian; Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba; Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Ander Herrera, Marcus Rashford; Romelu Lukaku

Substitutes: Sergio Romero, Chris Smalling, Daley Blind, Michael Carrick, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial

Jose Mourinho has made three changes since the 2-0 win over Leicester City before the international break.  Matteo Darmian comes in for Daley Blind at left-back with the Dutch international named on the bench.  Both Phil Jones and Eric Bailly start ahead of serving their European suspension midweek.

Ander Herrera comes in for Juan Mata in midfield as it looks as though we may change to a 4-3-3 formation with Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Marcus Rashford supporting Romelu Lukaku up front.  Anthony Martial drops to the bench.

Stoke City

Jack Butland; Geoff Cameron, Kurt Zouma, Kevin Wimmer; Mame Biram Diouf, Darren Fletcher, Joe Allen, Erik Pieters; Xherdan Shaqiri, Jese; Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting

Substitutes: Lee Grant, Josh Tymon, Bruno Martins Indi, Charlie Adam, Ramadan Sobhi, Saido Berahino, Peter Crouch

Former-United duo Darren Fletcher and Mame Biram Diouf start for the hosts in what appears to be a 3-4-3 formation named by Mark Hughes.

Ryan Shawcross is sidelined so Geoff Cameron and Kevin Wimmer will support Kurt Zouma in the centre of Stoke’s defence.  Darren Fletcher and Joe Allen will anchor the midfield.

Jesse and Xherdan Shaqiri could offer a threat in attack whilst I’m more worried about Eric Maxim Choup-Moting’s diving than his goalscoring ability.
