Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has made two changes to the starting line-up for today’s Premier League clash against Southampton on the road.
The Red Devils have picked up just three points from their opening three games of the season. They are already four points adrift of the top four and need to return to winning ways.
Ahead of today’s early kick-off at St Mary’s, Ten Hag has made a couple of changes from the disappointing and embarrassing 3-0 defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford.
Andre Onana has played every single minute in the Premier League since his arrival last term. There are no surprises that he continues in goal for the Red Devils.
In front of him, it is the same back four from the derby defeat. Noussair Mazraoui and Diogo Dalot will occupy the full-back roles with Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez in central defence.
Casemiro has been dropped on the back of his dismal display against Liverpool. The Brazil international was guilty of losing possession in the lead-up to both goals conceded in the opening half.
In his absence, there is a surprise start for Christian Eriksen in midfield alongside Kobbie Mainoo with Bruno Fernandes in the number 10 position. Manuel Ugarte could make his debut off the bench.
In the final third, there is a solitary change from last time around. Marcus Rashford, who created two big chances for Joshua Zirkzee, retains his place on the left side of the Red Devils attack.
Zirkzee has got the nod to lead the line despite squandering two brilliant scoring opportunities. Amad Diallo will start ahead of Alejandro Garnacho on the right wing after a good cameo against Liverpool.
Confirmed Man Utd line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Southampton: Onana; Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez, Dalot; Eriksen, Mainoo; Amad, Fernandes, Rashford; Zirkzee.
