Confirmed Man Utd line-up vs Liverpool, Kambwala in defence

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has named his starting line-up for today’s Premier League clash against Liverpool at Old Trafford.

The Red Devils suffered a shock defeat against Chelsea on the road in midweek. They were leading 3-2 in the closing stages of stoppage time before conceding two late goals.

Ten Hag will want a strong response against the Reds and ahead of the game, the Dutchman has made two changes.

In goal, Andre Onana continues as usual, but there is an enforced change in central defence. Willy Kambwala partners Harry Maguire with Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans injured.

Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka will start in the full-back positions. Wan-Bissaka could feature in the left-back role where he had a good outing in the FA Cup quarter-final.

In midfield, Casemiro has recovered from a minor knock to partner Kobbie Mainoo once more.

However, there is a notable change in the final third. Antony has been surprisingly dropped despite being one of the best performers against the Blues at Stamford Bridge in midweek.

The Brazilian produced a brilliant trivela assist and also won 100 per cent of his dribbles and tackles. We are quite surprised that he has been replaced by Marcus Rashford in the XI.

Bruno Fernandes, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund make up the rest of the attack.

Confirmed Man Utd line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Liverpool: Onana; Dalot, Kambwala, Maguire, Wan-Bissaka; Casemiro, Mainoo; Garnacho, Fernandes, Rashford; Hojlund.

United are currently 12 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa with two games in hand. They have an outside chance of qualifying for the Champions League.

Hence, today’s game is a must-win for them. They also have the opportunity to hurt the title pursuit of their arch-rivals by beating them for the second time this season.
