Confirmed Man Utd line-up vs Everton, Shaw returns

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has made three changes to the starting line-up for today’s Premier League clash against Everton at Goodison Park.

The Red Devils have been unconvincing in the final third this season, but they have still picked up 21 points from their first 12 games of the league campaign.

This includes back-to-back victories before the international break and Ten Hag will be eyeing another three points against Sean Dyche’s side in the late kick-off.

Ahead of the game, the Dutchman has opted for three changes to the starting line-up. A couple of them are enforced after injuries to Christian Eriksen and Rasmus Hojlund.

Hojlund was deemed doubtful for the fixture and he has not made the matchday squad.

In his absence, Anthony Martial has been tasked to lead the line. The Frenchman likes facing the Toffees. He has eight goals and four assists from 16 meetings against them.

Eriksen’s absence has handed a full Premier League debut to Kobbie Mainoo. Ten Hag has made a big choice to trust the wonderkid over Sofyan Amrabat in midfield.

The only other change is in the backline. Luke Shaw has been drafted straight into the starting XI after his return from a muscle injury which kept him out since late August.

The Englishman looks likely to start from his traditional left-back position ahead of Sergio Reguilon.

Confirmed Man Utd line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Everton: Onana; Dalot, Maguire, Lindelof, Shaw; McTominay, Mainoo; Rashford, Fernandes, Garnacho; Martial.

United start the game as favourites but they need to be wary of an Everton side, who will be hugely motivated after the 10-point deduction by the Premier League.

The Toffees were comfortably in mid-table before the international break, but they now find themselves five points adrift of safety after the points penalty handed to them.

The home fans will rally behind their players and United need a quick start to unsettle the Toffees and quieten the crown. They must begin positively with an early goal.
