Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has made three changes to the starting line-up for tonight’s Premier League clash against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
The Red Devils delivered a lacklustre performance against Brentford last weekend. They were fortunate to pick up a point with the chances that the Bees created.
Ten Hag will want a strong response against the Blues tonight. Ahead of the game, he has made three changes from the 1-1 draw at the Gtech Community Stadium.
In defence, Harry Maguire has come into the starting XI for the injured Victor Lindelof. The Swede picked up a hamstring injury shortly after the hour mark at Brentford.
Elsewhere, Scott McTominay has been dropped to the bench for Casemiro in midfield. The Scot had a poor outing and Casemiro should provide more control alongside Kobbie Mainoo.
Further forward, there is a surprise change with Marcus Rashford dropped for Antony. The Brazilian should start from his customary right wing role for United.
Confirmed Man Utd line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Chelsea: Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Maguire, Dalot; Casemiro, Mainoo; Antony, Fernandes, Garnacho; Hojlund.
Elsewhere, Amad Diallo is back on the substitutes’ bench for the club after serving a one-game suspension for his sending off in the FA Cup quarter-final against Liverpool.
Amad was lively with his cameo appearance, scoring a late winner in extra-time. The Ivorian will be hoping for an opportunity off the bench. He could replace Antony in the second half.
Meanwhile, United are currently 11 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa with two games in hand. They are trailing fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur by nine points, having played one game less.
They have the chance to reduce the deficit tonight with a victory. Anything less than three points could lead to doubts over their prospects of qualifying for the Champions League next term.
