Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has made two changes to the starting line-up for tonight’s Champions League group stage clash against Bayern Munich.
The Red Devils are currently bottom of Group A with just four points on the board. They are one point behind Copenhagen and Galatasaray and need to leapfrog them to make the round of 16.
Hence, tonight’s game is a must-win against the German champions. United must get three points at Old Trafford and hope that Copenhagen and Galatasaray share the spoils in the other group fixture.
Ten Hag has made two changes to the starting XI and one of those is in defence. Raphael Varane has finally been reinstated into the line-up with Sergio Reguilon dropping to the bench.
The World Cup winner has not started for the Red Devils since late October and he has eventually got the nod. He will partner Harry Maguire at the heart of the defence tonight.
Andre Onana will continue in goal for the Red Devils as usual.
Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw will line up in the full-back positions. The midfield stays the same with Sofyan Amrabat being partnered by Scott McTominay for the third straight game.
In attack, Antony, Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho retain their places. Rasmus Hojlund has replaced Anthony Martial in the number nine position for tonight’s clash.
Hojlund has five goals in Europe this campaign and he will be aiming to put up another top performance in the Champions League to guide his team into the knock-out phase.
From the 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial are not in the matchday squad after missing yesterday’s training session owing to illness.
Confirmed Man Utd line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Bayern: Onana; Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Shaw; Amrabat, McTominay; Antony, Fernandes, Garnacho; Hojlund.
