Confirmed Lineups: Man Utd vs Watford

Manchester United conclude their 2017-18 Premier League season at Old Trafford against Watford in under an hour’s time.

We are already guaranteed second place this season whilst the Hornets could still finish anywhere between 10th-15th.

Jose Mourinho confirmed on Thursday that he would be making a number of changes with next Saturday’s FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium in mind.  The boss has done just that.

Here are the two confirmed lineups for this afternoon’s game:

Manchester United

Sergio Romero; Matteo Darmian, Eric Bailly, Marcos Rojo, Ashley Young; Daley Blind, Michael Carrick, Scott McTominay; Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford, Alexis Sanchez

Substitutes: Joel Pereira, Phil Jones, Luke Shaw, Antonio Valencia, Ander Herrera, Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard

Michael Carrick starts his final game for Manchester United and we hope we can send him off with a victory after 12 successful seasons at the club.  The 36-year-old is partnered by Scott McTominay and Daley Blind in the central three.

Sergio Romero makes his first Premier League appearance of the season, suggesting that David de Gea will be the goalkeeper for the FA Cup final.  The Argentine has been between the posts for most of our cup games this season.

There is a return in defence for Eric Bailly who was a stoppage time substitute at West Ham United on Thursday evening.  The Ivorian centre-back hasn’t started since the derby win at the start of April.  Marcos Rojo will be his centre-back partner and Ashley Young on the left.  Matteo Darmian is in at right-back whilst both Luke Shaw and Antonio Valencia do make the bench.

It looks as though Alexis Sanchez will play on the left, Marcus Rashford on the left and Juan Mata on the right of a front three.  The boss has said on Thursday that Anthony Martial would start but the French international doesn’t make the matchday squad.  We will bring you any updates as soon as we have them on this story.

Jose has made nine changes in all with only Scott McTominay and Alexis Sanchez keeping their starting berths since Thursday.

Watford

Gomes; Daryl Janmaat, Craig Cathcart, Christian Kabasele, Jose Holebas; Abdoulaye Doucoure, Will Hughes; Gerard Deulofeu, Roberto Pereyra, Richarlison; Andre Gray

Substitutes: Daniel Bachmann, Sebastian Prödl, Adrian Mariappa, Nathaniel Chalobah, Dodi Lukebakio, Jerome Sinclair, Troy Deeney

Former Manchester United youngster Craig Cathcart is part of the visitors’ back four this afternoon.

Andre Gray plays as the sole striker but has some talent behind him in Gerard Deulofeu, Roberto Pereyra and Richarlison, though the latter hasn’t produced much since the first half of the season.
