Confirmed Lineups: Man Utd vs Liverpool

Manchester United host Liverpool in the first and biggest game of the Premier League weekend in just under an hour’s time at Old Trafford.

We hold a two-point lead over our rivals with nine games to go, and a comfortable nine-point lead over Chelsea who are on the outside looking in at the Champions League places.

Jose Mourinho has half a dozen injuries to deal with heading into today’s game whilst his counterpart, Jurgen Klopp, only has one absentee.

The two confirmed lineups for today’s early kickoff are as follows:

Manchester United

David de Gea; Antonio Valencia, Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling, Ashley Young; Scott McTominay, Nemanja Matic; Juan Mata, Alexis Sanchez, Marcus Rashford; Romelu Lukaku

Substitutes: Sergio Romero, Matteo Darmian, Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw, Michael Carrick, Marouane Fellaini, Jesse Lingard

Paul Pogba is dropping from our matchday squad after damaging his leg in training yesterday.  Jose Mourinho is going for a 4-2-3-1 formation with Scott McTominay partnering Nemanja Matic in front of the back four with Juan Mata potentially playing the number 10 role and Alexis Sanchez and Marcus Rashford on the wings.

Eric Bailly makes his first start in three months following his knee injury.  The Ivorian has made two substitute appearances in the past few weeks.  Chris Smalling will be his centre-back partner whilst Ashley Young keeps his place in the starting linep ahead of Luke Shaw.

Liverpool

Loris Karius; Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dejan Lovren, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson; Emre Can, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain; Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane

Substitutes: Simon Mignolet, Joel Matip, Joe Gomez, Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum, Adam Lallana, Dominc Solanke

Captain Jordan Henderson drops to the bench, potentially after picking up a dead leg against FC Porto on Tuesday night.  James Milner comes into midfield to partner Emre Can and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain which could potentially give us a good opportunity to attack through the middle.

Trent Alexander-Arnold starts ahead of Joe Gomez at right-back.
