Manchester United will be looking to deny Manchester City the 2017-18 Premier League title for at least another week by avoiding defeat at the Etihad Stadium this evening.
We head into the derby one point ahead of Liverpool and two games in hand following their 0-0 draw in the Merseyside derby at Everton earlier today.
City are coming off the back of a 3-0 hammering at Liverpool in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final at Anfield on Wednesday.
The two teams for today’s game are confirmed as:
Manchester United
David de Gea; Antonio Valencia, Eric Bailly, Chris Smalling, Ashley Young; Nemanja Matic, Ander Herrera, Paul Pogba; Jesse Lingard, Romelu Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez
Substitutes: Joel Pereira, Victor Lindelof, Marcos Rojo, Scott McTominay, Juan Mata, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford
Ander Herrera returns to the starting lineup after recently recovering from injury to partner Nemanja Maric and Paul Pogba in central midfield as Jose Mourinho has named a 4-3-3 formation again.
Jesse Lingard starts down the right wing as we predicted yesterday whilst we have attacking options in Juan Mata, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford on the bench.
Manchester City
Ederson; Danilo, Vincent Kompany, Nicolas Otamendi, Fabian Delph; Fernandinho, Ilkay Gundogan; Bernardo Silva, David Silva, Leroy Sane; Raheem Sterling
Substitutes: Claudio Bravo, Kyle Walker, Aymeric Laporte, Yaya Toure, Kevin De Bruyne, Gabriel Jesus, Sergio Aguero
Pep Guardiola has made several changes to his team that were hammered midweek with Danilo coming in at right-back and Fabian Delph on the left.
Bernardo Silva will start on the right and Leroy Sane on the left with Raheem Sterling starting up front with both Gabriel Jesus and the returning Sergio Aguero among the substitutes. Kevin De Bruyne drops to the bench for the first time this season but David Silva maintains his place in the starting lineup and will seemingly play as the number 10.
