Confirmed: 5 new signings for Man Utd

Manchester United have made five new signings to our youth team from fellow Premier League side Huddersfield Town.

Despite the West Yorkshire’s promotion to the top flight with a penalty shootout victory over Reading in last season’s Championship playoff final, Huddersfield Town scrapped all their youth teams below under-16 level.

We stepped in to offer a number of their released players a series of trial games, and Jack Gaughan from the Daily Mail has reported that five of them have been snapped up at Old Trafford.

The five youngsters now have the choice of continuing their education in West Yorkshire, or to move to Ashton-on-Mersey School in Sale.  The latter would leave them only a 10-minute drive from our Carrington training complex.

However, Mr Gaughan’s report doesn’t state which five players have joined us.  The names Rocco Fragapane, Raj Mahmood, Harvey Rowe and Sam Murray were four of 15 young players believed to have been invited to the trials.

Whoever they are, Huddersfield Town will not receive a single penny from us after closing their youth academies meaning the players were not under any contract with the club.

The Terriers have kept their under-18 and under-23 squads active.
