Confirmed: 3 absent for Man Utd vs Arsenal + Sanchez update

Manchester United face Arsenal in the FA Cup fourth round at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night.

Both sides were comfortable winners against lower league opposition in the previous round.

Prior to the match in North London, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has spoken to the media at his pre-match press conference and has given a team news and injury update.

The caretaker manager will be without centre-backs Chris Smalling and Marcos Rojo once again. The pair are yet to make an appearance under Ole due to their injuries. Smalling is at least back in training now but the Argentine defender is still going to be unavailable for a while.

Central midfielder Marouane Fellaini has also been ruled out of tomorrow’s cup tie. The Belgian international picked up a calf injury in training last week that is expected to keep him out of action for at least another 2-3 weeks.

The boss told MUTV:

“Smalling has started training so hopefully he’ll be available maybe next week so it’s looking good for him. Fellaini and Rojo are still a bit away.”

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have Eric Bailly, Victor Lindelof and Chris Smalling all available as options at centre-back to face the Gunners.

The Norwegian then went on to confirm that Alexis Sanchez will be involved in tomorrow’s clash against the Chilean’s former side.

Alexis has missed our last two games with an injury picked up during our 2-0 win over Reading in the last round of the FA Cup but will be fit to face Arsenal. This will be the forward’s first return to the Emirates since he joined us from our Premier League rivals a year ago this week.

Solskjaer confirmed:

“He’ll be involved. I think he’ll love it if the crowd turn against him. As a player, pride kicks in and you think ‘I’ll show all of you’. He’s been fantastic in training, his attitude has been spot on so hopefully he’ll enjoy the game.”

Manchester United face Arsenal in a 19:55 kickoff at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night.
