Manchester United are at Camp Nou this evening to take on Barcelona in the second leg of our Champions League quarter-final.
The runaway Spanish La Liga leaders were 1-0 winners at Old Trafford last week as both teams failed to impress on the night.
We failed to test Marc-Andre ter Stegen on home soil but know that an early goal on Spanish soil would give us a great opportunity to go on and win the tie, much like we did against Paris Saint-Germain last month.
Luke Shaw will be suspended for this evening’s game after picking up another yellow card in the first leg but Ashley Young returns following his domestic suspension over the weekend.
Centre-back Eric Bailly remains sidelined as does midfielder Ander Herrera, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer does have Nemanja Matic back from illness. The Serbian missed the first leg.
The boss has spoken at his pre-match press conference ahead of this evening’s second leg and was able to confirm that Alexis Sanchez is available to face his former club. Ole told MUTV:
“Alex has been here and played here so it’s a big night for him. When he’s on the pitch, I’m sure he wants to prove a point.
”He wants to prove a point for us as well, because he’s been injured, he’s not had a fantastic season so far and let’s hope he can end it great for us because we are at the business end.
“Let’s hope Alexis, when he’s on the pitch, can be happy with his performance.”
Ole went on to confirm we have a lot of options available in attack:
“We need to score goals. If Romelu [Lukaku], Marcus [Rashford], Jesse [Lingard], Anthony [Martial] or Alexis play, we need a big performance. Paul [Pogba] as well, from all our forward players.
”We have to defend but we have to have that little bit of extra to score goals against teams like this. I expect whoever is going to start tomorrow, when they’re on the pitch, to know I want to see some good form. Of course, we have to.”
Following our trip to Barcelona we are at Everton on Easter Sunday.
