Manchester United are looking good on the injury front ahead of Sunday’s trip to Leicester City in the Premier League.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s 100% winning start came to an end in his ninth game in charge on Tuesday night when we were held 2-2 at home by Burnley.
However, we closed the gap on the top four to just two points as Chelsea were hammered 4-0 at Bournemouth 24 hours later.
Ahead of our trip to the King Power Stadium this weekend, Ole has been speaking to the media at this pre-match press conference this morning and has given a team news and injury update.
The only absentee the boss will have to deal with this weekend is Marcos Rojo and the Argentine is yet to be available for any of Ole’s games in charge anyway. Chris Smalling’s return to the bench midweek means that we now have four available centre-backs to choose from, of which Rojo would not be considered to compete for a first team place were he available anyway.
There was also an update on Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial with Solskjaer confirming that the French pair will both be available for Sunday’s game. They had previously been listed as doubts, with Martial missing the Burnley game last time out with an injury picked up in training.
Ole told MUTV:
“We’ve not had a proper session since the game, so hopefully both of them can get through that.
“I don’t think there’s anything with Paul. Anthony has done some rehab work, so he will try a session today, so I would imagine he would be available to be involved. He seemed happy yesterday.”
We start the weekend two points outside of the Champions League places with Arsenal currently occupying the final spot. The Gunners are in action at Manchester City on Sunday. The North London club are ahead of Chelsea on goals scored with Maurizio Sarri’s side in action on Saturday when they host bottom of the league Huddersfield Town.
