Some Manchester United fans have expressed their delight over the performance of Anthony Martial following the club’s 4-1 Premier League win over Newcastle United on Boxing Day.
The Frenchman has produced a mixed bag of performances this season and he went into the Magpies game, having failed to score in the previous two league games with just one shot on target.
However, he was able to redeem himself with a goal in either half against Steve Bruce’s side and he was denied a hat-trick after his delightful left-footed shot hit the woodwork.
The 24-year-old was substituted shortly after the hour mark with a view to the forthcoming schedule and that certainly disappointed him as he missed the chance to score his maiden senior treble.
Martial has been criticised for the past couple of league matches where he has struggled to make any contribution but he made the most of Newcastle’s defensive mistakes in the comeback triumph.
As such, the reaction has been widely positive from the supporters and a few of them have taken to Twitter to praise the Frenchman, who has now bagged nine goals in all competitions for the club.

Finally Martial is doing it true. That's what Giggs and some of us were asking for. He was fantastic tonight. Top class.
BUT I hope for team it's not just another one round up, before going down again.#MNUNEW#mufc— ?ed ?ream (@imhpio) December 26, 2019
Martial has struggled to find the consistency while leading the line for the Red Devils and this has often contributed to the criticism from the fans whenever he has returned from a game without any meaningful impact.
The forward has bagged six goals and three assists from 13 league appearances this season. The fans will be hoping that he can build on the performance against the Magpies with crucial fixtures coming up after the turn of the year.
