Cristiano Ronaldo, Peter Schmeichel, Eric Cantona, Rivaldo, Zinedine Zidane – who would you want in your ideal 5-a-side team?
We have teamed up with bookmakers Betfair to give away a Manchester United shirt to one of our lucky readers.
To enter, you simply need to pick from one of the five dream teams below and either leave a comment or send us an email with your pick. Those who have selected the same team as me will be put in a hat with one lucky winner picked out at random.
Please leave your name and email address with your entries so that we can contact the winner.
Betfair Premier League odds are usually the highest of all sportsbooks because of their unique exchange system that allows punter to pick their own odds.
Back to the competition and Team A includes former Manchester United star and current Real Madrid legend, Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese forward is in blistering form since the turn of the year and is looking to help the La Liga giants win a third consecutive Champions League. Gianluigi Buffon and Luis Figo are two of his teammates in the Betfair 5-a-side competition.
Peter Schmeichel is the goalkeeper for Team B. Arguably the greatest goalkeeper in the history of the game. The Great Dane won five Premier League titles in his eight seasons at Old Trafford, which included the 1999 treble. Paulo Maldini and Ronaldinho are two of his teammates in this competition.
Alongside Schmeichel as part of our dominant side from the 1990s was forward Eric Cantona. He has been included in Betfair’s Team C for this competition, along with the likes of Iker Casillas and Lionel Messi. The controversial French star won the English top flight in every full season he played. Note: he was suspended for much of the 1994-95 season which aided Blackburn Rovers’ title success!
One of the greatest passers of the ball the game has ever seen, Paul Scholes is in Team D. The midfielder won a staggering 11 Premier League titles during his career – second only to Ryan Giggs (13) on the all-time list. Betfair have included Rivaldo and Thierry Henry alongside Scholes.
Team E doesn’t include any current or former-Manchester United players so you can rule out one of these teams from my selection 😉
The choice of teams are below:
