Newcastle legend Malcolm Macdonald fears United could look towards the 23-year-old. He would be a potential transfer target if he performs well in the match between the two clubs next weekend.
Speaking to The Chronicle, He said:
“He is brave as a lion. He knows he is going to get whacked because he invites tackles but he picks himself up and goes again. He rides tackles and only an injury can stop him”.
“Of course over the long-term if he doesn’t get quality support around him and the big Champions League clubs come calling, United are going to lose him”.
He added: “Of course clubs are now on red alert with all the accolades he has received. Including Manchester United, Newcastle’s next opponents. If he rips them to pieces they will be back!”
Allan Saint-Maximin has captivated the Premier League since his arrival from OGC Nice. His quirky dribbling style and the ability to fearlessly take on any opponent has earned him many fans.
United were earlier linked to a move for the French winger before his transfer to Newcastle.
Manchester United have been unable to snap up a winger in this year’s summer window. Their big name moves for Jadon Sancho and Ousmane Dembele have not borne any fruit.
A move for a winger could be on the cards for United in the January transfer window.
Allan Saint- Maximin is valued at €28 million by Transfermarket.
