The defender has been linked to European powerhouses Real Madrid and Manchester United.

The AS Monaco manager spoke to the TF1 and said: “Our aim is to take him to the next level.

“If he plays a lot of matches with us in Ligue 1, which is a very good league, he will improve, that is certain”.

He added: “We do not want to sell him that is very clear. He will stay here this season. I think that this is the best solution for him. He has his club here, his family. He knows the environment.”

The 19-year-old defender made 48 appearances for Monaco in all competitions and particularly caught the eye before the curtailment of the 2019-20 French domestic season.

The report also suggests that United submitted an opening bid of £22.28million (€25m) for Badiashile, which Monaco were quick to knockback.

Manchester United look to sign a centre-back to partner Harry Maguire in the heart of Manchester United’s defense. The Red Devils have also been linked to Leipzig hotshot Dayot Upamecano.

Kovac’s announcement regarding the future of the defender is a setback for United. It would be interesting to see if United stick with their current backline or turn to an alternative target to bolster their defense.
