A section of the Manchester United supporters have clearly not been impressed with the performance of Tahith Chong during the club’s 2-1 Europa League defeat to Astana on the road.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer picked a very young squad for the Kazakhstan trip with qualification already sealed and the youngsters produced a good display despite being on the losing side.
While a number of club graduates made their mark on the game, Chong had another outing to forget as he missed a clear-cut chance to find the net when United where 1-0 ahead.
Shortly after, Astana found the equalising goal and this was soon followed by the winner which came through United debutant Di’Shon Bernard, who deflected a cross into his own net.
A defeat with a young squad is relatively acceptable but some fans have clearly been left frustrated by Chong, who should have definitely scored after Luke Shaw put the ball on a plate for a simple tap-in.
Twitter Reactions:
What's Chong good at?

Chong doesn't have a future at United unfortunately.

Tahith Chong just missed a clear open goal. This was literally one of the worst misses you'll ever see. A few seconds later, Astana attack and immediately score. This game could've been over, but it's 1-1 now. Shocking miss.

Chong is clearly not ready nor going to make it to the United team.
Levitt and Garner were good. Greenwood denied by GK ?????
Larid well. Barnard will develop.
Hate how Ramazani only got a few minutes. Bughail-Mellor looked promise as well?
Gomes over Andreas all day. #MUFC

Laird, Levitt & Garner all come out with big positives.
Chong….no.
I have no more words for Shaw.

The 19-year-old has impressed on numerous occasions for the development squad but he has been able to replicate the same level of performance when he has got the chance at the senior level.
His current deal with the Red Devils expires at the end of the campaign and based on his first-team displays this term, his prospects of regular gametime with the club appear bleak for the future.
Manchester United are scheduled to host Aston Villa in the Premier League this weekend. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is expected to make a complete overhaul of the starting XI from Thursday night.
