David Alaba has been linked with a move away from Bayern Munich for a while now, with contract talks stalled. Sky Sports reported earlier today that the Austrian defender rejected a new €15 million yearly deal at Bayern Munich. Chelsea and Manchester United were rumoured destinations.
The 28-year-old would make perfect sense for either club and it is easy to see why Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would go for Alaba. He is equally adept at full-back or centre half, given his all roundedness. Him being left-footed would also help out a lot, given Harry Maguire, who is right-footed, plays on the left side of the pairing.
However, the ever-reliable Christian Falk from BILD Germany has denied these reports. Falk quoted a tweet which reported the news that Sky broke on Tuesday evening saying ‘Not true’.
Manchester United have so far given up the pursuit of Lille’s Gabriel in the window and are also targeting Monaco’s Benoit Badiashille. Alaba was another option until Falk busted that myth.
