Christian Eriksen hails Man Utd midfielder Scott McTominay

Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has heaped praise on Scott McTominay following his superb run of form under manager Erik ten Hag this season.

The Scotland international had a difficult start to the campaign, but has looked solid in the centre of the park over the past four league games which United have won.

His performances have been so good that Casemiro has had to settle for a substitute role. Eriksen has also been impressed with the 25-year-old’s recent progress.

Speaking to Manutd.com, he said: “Scott has done very well and I think you can see that from the games. I think in the first few ones we were looking for each other a bit and seeing where we are.”

“Now I think we are starting to get a good connection and a good feeling of where you should be, and also because of the instructions of the manager as he has the positions he would like us to be in.”

McTominay has been United’s unsung hero from midfield

McTominay had a tough start to the season against Brighton & Hove Albion, and it was followed by another unconvincing cameo display against Brentford in a forgettable 4-0 loss.

Despite this, Ten Hag continued to back him for the holding midfield role, and he has certainly upped his game. Most recently against Arsenal, he completed 100 per cent of his passes.

Hence, the £28.8 million-rated star is certainly growing in confidence. He has made the number six position his own, and Casemiro will have to earn his spot in the Premier League XI.

The Brazilian looked out of depth in the recent 1-0 loss to Real Sociedad in the Europa League group stage, and he needs to step up his performances big time to displace McTominay.
