BBC Sport pundit Chris Sutton has made his prediction for Saturday’s Premier League clash between Manchester United and Brentford at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils suffered a disappointing 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace last weekend before Galatasaray beat them in the Champions League by a 3-2 scoreline.
Erik ten Hag will be eyeing a strong response against the Bees tomorrow. The game seems a must-win for United, who are already seven points behind the top four.
Ahead of the afternoon kick-off, Sutton said that United need to return to winning ways and the form of Rasmus Hojlund up front is a plus for the Red Devils.
The journalist added that United may not keep a clean sheet but could win (2-1) with some moments of individual brilliance. He believes Hojlund could make the difference.
He told BBC Sport: “You wonder when the pressure is really going to start to build on Erik ten Hag, and dropping more points here certainly wouldn’t help his cause.”
“The one crumb of comfort for Manchester United fans is the way Rasmus Hojlund is playing up front.
“Brentford have lacked a spark in recent weeks but will be well organised and tough to break down, then look to counter United as much as possible.
“I don’t think United will keep a clean sheet, but some moments of individual brilliance might win it for them – Hojlund may just make the difference.”
United have endured a tough start to the campaign and they have already suffered six defeats from their opening 10 games – four of them in the Premier League.
This has led to some questions over Ten Hag’s future but in our opinion, the Dutchman is the right man for the job and should turnaround the club’s fortunes soon.
Hojlund has been a shining spark over recent weeks. The €45 million-rated star has yet to score in the Premier League, but has netted three times in Europe including a stunning solo goal.
The Dane did everything right against Galatasaray in midweek, scoring a brace. However, he was let down by the defence. Hopefully, he will replicate the same in a winning cause this weekend.
