Manchester United and AS Roma have finally found an agreement over the deal that will see Chris Smalling making his permanent move to the Italian capital, confirms a reliable journalist in David Ornstein.
As per the confirmation, AS Roma agreed to pay an amount of €15m plus €5m in performance-related add-ons in order to secure the services for Manchester United veteran.
The English defender played his 2019-20 season on loan for Roma, helping the Italian side grab a UEFA Europa League spot.
Manchester United have been in talks with Roma to strike down a deal for over the last few months.
However, there has had always been irregularity regarding the valuation of the deal from both camps.
Roma were previously linked with a deadline day move for Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger.
But, as the things stand, Chris Smalling is likely to complete his long-desired move to Roma.
Smalling has already made everyone known about his dream of playing for England in the upcoming EURO 2021 next summer.
And should he want to get into the England squad, he needs to play football on a regular basis, which he won’t ever get under the guidance of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Manchester United.
Hence, a move to Roma seems to be the only and the perfect way of salvation for the veteran defender.
