Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount has agreed personal terms with Manchester United ahead of his summer switch to Old Trafford, according to The Telegraph.
The England international has been a key player for the west London club, registering 33 goals and 37 assists from 195 appearances across all competitions.
His current deal with the Blues expires in June 2024 and he has now accepted personal terms with United, who are confident of finalising a transfer agreement.
United boss Erik ten Hag has identified Mount as a key target for the club. The Dutch tactician plans to play the 24-year-old from the number eight position.
Mount edging closer to Man Utd transfer
The Blues midfielder had a difficult 2022/23 campaign. He managed only nine goal contributions from 35 appearances and was largely injured for the final three months.
Despite this, there has been high-profile interest in signing him. Liverpool and Arsenal were initially interested before United entered the race for his signature.
Mount has made it clear that he would like to join the Red Devils and Ten Hag will be delighted, having been an admirer of the England star from his time with Ajax.
Ten Hag wanted to sign Mount on loan after his temporary stint at Vitesse Arnhem in 2017/18 but the Blues opted to send him to Derby County to gain experience.
As things stand, there is a significant difference over the price tag. While United value Mount at £55 million, the Blues are looking for around £85m for their club graduate.
However, a middle ground is expected to be found soon. The Blues are unlikely to risk the possibility of losing Mount on a free transfer at the end of the 2023/24 season.
