Chelsea are interested in signing one of Manchester United’s wingers this month, according to journalist Christopher Michel.
The Red Devils have had a good transfer window. They have signed Joshua Zirkzee, Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui for a combined £140 million fee.
The club are now focused on recruiting a holding midfielder. Super-agent Jorge Mendes is working behind the scenes to bring Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain.
There could also be multiple exits before the transfer deadline on August 30 and Michel claims that Chelsea are interested in a surprise move for Sancho.
The Blues are open to negotiating a reduced transfer package while swapping two academy players.
The London outfit are also willing to land Sancho on loan with an obligation to buy. They are prepared to cover his entire salary for the upcoming season.
Sancho moving to Chelsea would be a surprise
The 24-year-old had a public fall-out with manager Erik ten Hag in September last year. He was subsequently suspended before leaving for Borussia Dortmund on loan in January.
Sancho had a good stint on his return to the Bundesliga giants. He has now managed to sort out his differences with Ten Hag, but needs to fight for a spot in the starting line-up at United.
The Manchester City graduate was a late substitute for Marcus Rashford in the Community Shield last weekend. He could have a similar role until he manages to make a significant contribution.
Despite this, we would be surprised if United agree to offload him to Chelsea. The Blues are more than capable of signing Sancho with the huge financial backing from their current owners.
However, it would not be good business for United unless they receive a straight-cash deal. Fabrice Hawkins recently reported that United are holding out for £51 million to sell him.
For that price, the Red Devils would have the opportunity to land a lucrative replacement. They could also utilise the funds to speed up the acquisition of Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain.
