Chelsea considering move for Alejandro Garnacho in the summer

Chelsea have been linked again with Manchester United forward Alejandro Garnacho (h/t Sky Sports).

Described as a player with ‘great qualities‘ by former manager Erik ten Hag, Garnacho is on Chelsea’s summer transfer shortlist.

Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Gittens and Athletic Club’s Nico Williams are other options.

The Blues want to sign a winger this summer to compensate for the absence of Ukrainian forward Mykhailo Mudryk, who has been suspended for using a banned substance.

Chelsea enquired about signing the Argentina international in the winter transfer window but made no substantial move to sign him.

They may need to decide on the future of United loanee Jadon Sancho before making a move for Garnacho.

Garnacho may need to move on

With Garnacho struggling under manager Ruben Amorim and United looking poised to sign Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha, an exit may be on the cards.

Juventus are also monitoring Garnacho, while Napoli still retain an interest after failing to sign him in January. Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid have also been linked with the winger.

Cunha’s potential arrival could significantly affect Garnacho’s game time next season. The Argentine’s current contract ends in 2028, which puts United in a strong position.

The Mancunian giants will likely demand a sizeable fee – they were ready to sell him for £55 million in January. This would boost their transfer kitty.

Chelsea could also battle with the Red Devils for the signings of defender Jarrad Branthwaite and striker Liam Delap this summer.
