Manchester United returned to winning ways with an impressive 2-1 Premier League triumph over Brentford at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The Red Devils went into the game on a five-match winless streak and they had a disappointing end to the opening half when Ethan Pinnock scored from a corner.
However, there was a terrific response after the break. Alejandro Garnacho scored within minutes of the restart before Rasmus Hojlund bagged the key winner.
Casemiro started in the heart of the midfield with Kobbie Mainoo sidelined. He had a slow start against the Bees but grew in confidence as the game went on.
The Brazilian ended up winning 100 percent of his aerial duels against Thomas Frank’s side. He also won all of his dribbles alongside four tackles and six ball recoveries.
Despite the promising display, he is unlikely to be involved against Fenerbahce in midweek. United face the Turkish outfit in the Europa League on Thursday.
The 32-year-old sustained a calf injury during the closing stages of the game. He asked to be substituted and was replaced by Manuel Ugarte for the final 10 minutes.
United manager Erik ten Hag did not provide a clear update on Casemiro’s situation, but the club should issue confirm the situation over the next couple of days.
The Red Devils have moved to up 11th in the standings after the victory. They remain six points adrift of the Champions League places after eight games played.
