Casemiro in line to start Man Utd’s Premier League game at Everton

Manchester United midfielder Casemiro should make his full Premier League debut when the club face Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday, The Telegraph report.

The Brazilian star joined the Red Devils from Real Madrid this summer with much fanfare, but has yet to find his feet amid his limited playing time.

Since signing in late-August, the £45 million-rated star has made just one start for the club which came in the 1-0 Europa League defeat to Real Sociedad.

In the top-flight, he has been restricted to four substitute appearances with manager Erik ten Hag tending to prefer Scott McTominay based on current form.

It is now revealed by The Telegraph that Ten Hag pushed for the signing of Casemiro after the midfielder made it aware that he was willing to leave Madrid.

The 30-year-old has not played much despite his world-class qualities, but is now likely to start against Omonia in Europe before making the XI versus the Toffees.

Casemiro needs to play regularly to find his rhythm

The Brazilian was a superb performer in the holding midfield role for Madrid, but has yet to showcase similar qualities during the early phase of his United career.

Casemiro has been prone to losing possession in his own half while he has not been winning many duels. Despite this, he should be backed with a regular starting role.

The former Porto man has looked sluggish in his cameo appearances, but Ten Hag needs to play him through the rough patch such that he can find his consistency.

The upcoming games against Omonia and Everton are probably the right time for him to establish himself in the XI. He needs as many minutes as possible in both games.

McTominay may feel hard done by the decision, but United have not spent £70m on a five-time Champions League winner just to be brought on for cameo spells.
