Casemiro happy with his start at Manchester United, lauds Antony as “top-quality player”

Manchester United midfeilder Casemiro admits that his life in England has started on a positive note.

The Brazilian joined United in a £60 million switch from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

Erik ten Hag described him as ‘cement between stones’ after Red Devils finally secured the services of a top-class defensive midfielder.

Casemiro has started just one game for United since his arrival. He proved to be rusty and was easily dispossessed by the Real Sociedad players.

However, the Brazilian international insists that he is happy with his life in the new country.

He told “It’s great, really good, a really friendly club where I feel comfortable.

“I’ve been made to feel comfortable here from the first day. I’m really happy with my teammates, they’re always helping me.

“The coaching team always explains things clearly to me, I’m doing really well and am very happy.

“On the city, people tell me a lot about it, like where the best restaurants are.

“I’m someone who likes to stay at home and relax with my family, I’m doing really well and am very happy to be here.”

Antony is another Brazilian who made his way to Old Trafford this summer.

Having previously worked with the young trickster, Casemiro is aware of the talent he possesses.

He added: “I think it’s really important to have such a quality player here [as Antony] with us.

“He’d played with us in Brazil, it’s always important to have players of Antony’s level. Not just him, we have a lot of top-quality players.”

The 30-year-old midfielder is yet to adapt to Ten Hag’s system which demands high intensity.

One reason for this could be his late arrival at Man United.

Since his signing, Scott McTominay has pulled up his socks, putting in some encouraging performances in the centre of the park.

McTominay is aware that the day he let his form slip, Casemiro will take his spot and this is pushing him to work harder.

A club as big as Man United should have competition where a player cannot take his spot for granted.

This positive competitive culture was something which was missing under previous managers.

Hopefully, Casemiro can up his game soon and get into the starting XI.

He is one of the best defensive centre midfielders in the world.

United faithful are eager to see him stamp his authority in the middle of the pitch as he did for Madrid.
