Bruno Fernandes talks about Raphinha: “In the game, there are no friends at all”

Manchester United visit Elland Road this weekend where they will clash with arch-rivals Leeds United.

We witnessed an enthralling game when the two sides last met in December. The Red Devils defeated Leeds 6-2 at Old Trafford.

United’s Bruno Fernandes and Leeds star Raphinha are undoubtedly the most potent threat on each sides.

The pair have a great bond, thanks to the 2018/19 season when they played together at Sporting Lisbon.

They formed amazing chemistry, combining for a staggering 39 goals and 23 assists.

With Marcelo Bielsa’s side welcoming United on Sunday, a fan asked Fernandes about Raphinha in a Q&A session on the club’s official website.

The Portuguese international replied: “Unluckily for Leeds, I think maybe he will still be injured at the time.

“I hope not. I hope I can play against him but, if I have to put him down in the game, I will put him down!

“The relationships stay out of the game. He knows that. He is one of the players who knows me better than anyone.

“He knows the relationship but even in the training ground, he knows it never counts when we play against each other. If we have to fight in the game, we’ll fight for everything and then go home.

“If there is time to see each other, we will see and we will talk but he knows, in the game, there are no friends at all.”

It will be the first time Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men will take on the pitch since withdrawing from the proposed European Super League.

Solsjaer will be hoping that his team can continue their five-match winning run to close down the gap between them and Manchester City.

Leeds are tenth in the league table and aiming for a top-half finish after winning promotion to the English top-flight last season.

With two counter-attacking teams set to lock horns, we may see another high-scoring game this Sunday.
