Manchester United have pulled off a major coup by locking down Bruno Fernandes to a new contract.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Man United have reached an agreement with Fernandes to extend his contract until June 2027.
The deal also has the option to extend his stay by an additional 12 months.
The new contract could move him alongside Casemiro who is on £350,000 weekly salary.
Fernandes is expected to sign the formal deal before the end of the summer transfer window.
Bruno Fernandes is the heart of this Man Utd side
Since joining the club in January 2020, Fernandes has quickly established himself as a key figure. He was appointed as captain last summer.
Fernandes is the creative hub of the team, responsible for unlocking defences and often inspiring his side to victories.
The £60 million-rated superstar has netted 79 goals and 66 assists in 233 games for United across all competitions.
He is extremely reliable and has missed only three United games due to injury or illness.
Despite being one of United’s most influential players, Fernandes earns less than several of his high-profile teammates.
Mason Mount, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford and Casemiro all take home bigger paychecks.
It was time for United to offer more to their creative driving force. This contract extension ends speculation about his future.
Barcelona and Bayern Munich were interested in signing the Portuguese international this summer but United were never going to contemplate his departure.
The 29-year-old is one of the most sought-after midfielders in Europe. He is the club’s best signing in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era.
INEOS have made a splash this summer and securing Fernandes with a new deal is another significant feather in their cap.
