Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has now received backing from one of his fiercest Premier League rivals.
Fernandes remains one of the leading contenders for the prestigious PFA Player of the Year award.
However, he faces a tough battle from David Raya, Declan Rice, Gabriel Magalhaes and Erling Haaland.
Manchester City fan favourite Bernardo Silva has publicly admitted that Fernandes would receive his vote for the award.
He said (via The Athletic): “My friend Bruno Fernandes. He has had an incredible season.”
Fernandes is enjoying a sensational 2025-26 season, with eight goals and 19 assists to his name in the Premier League this season.
The Portuguese playmaker now sits just one assist away from equalling the Premier League record for the most assists in a single season.
Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne currently share the record with 20 assists each.
With two matches still remaining, United supporters will be desperately hoping Fernandes can break the record and crown his extraordinary season in historic fashion.
Fernandes has become the heartbeat of this United side and arguably one of the most influential footballers anywhere in Europe right now.
His stunning performances have already seen him named Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year and United’s Players’ Player of the Year.
Raya has been exceptional between the posts for Arsenal this season, while Haaland has once again demonstrated why he remains one of the deadliest goalscorers in world football.
However, few players in the Premier League can genuinely claim to have carried their team as heavily as Fernandes has carried United throughout this campaign.
