Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has become the first player to create 100 chances in the Premier League this season.
The Portugal international has been a key performer for the Red Devils in the number 10 role and he has had another productive campaign.
The 29-year-old had a slow first half to the season, but his form has picked up over the past few weeks.
Fernandes has registered 15 goals and 11 assists from 45 appearances. Out of those, 10 goals and seven assists have come in the top-flight.
TNT Sports have now revealed that the Portuguese has created 100 chances in the league this term. He has become the first player to do so.
United need to capitalise on Fernandes’ creativity
Fernandes can be a frustrating figure with his tendency to lose possession, but he makes up for it with his goal contributions.
The former Sporting man likes to take risks with his distribution in the final third. Against Burnley yesterday, he created nine chances.
Four of those were big scoring opportunities but Alejandro Garnacho and Antony failed to capitalise. Rasmus Hojlund was barely in the game.
Fernandes, who is currently valued at £60 million by Transfermarkt, should be frustrated with the inability of his teammates to find the back of the net.
There has been a lack of cutting edge with the decision making in the box. United need to freshen up things this summer with another quality striker.
They may also need to invest on another winger who can make regular goal contributions. Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams would be an ideal signing.
