The Red Devils appeared to have stolen the three points through Mason Mount’s 96th-minute strike.
However, Kristoffer Ajer scored the equaliser three minutes later to deny United a smash-and-grab victory.
The Red Devils remain in the sixth spot with 48 points, 11 points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa.
Let’s get into some player ratings.
Player Ratings
Andre Onana – 7/10
The goalkeeper made a crucial double save after the break to keep the Red Devils in the game.
Diogo Dalot – 4/10
Dalot has been a shining light for United this season but today’s display was disappointing.
Raphael Varane – 7/10
He was rock-solid at the heart of the defence but was unfortunately substituted at the break due to a possible injury.
Victor Lindelof – 6/10
Lindelof made a vital interception to deny Ivan Toney a clear goal-scoring opportunity.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 3/10
Wan-Bissaka did not look comfortable at left-back. He got beaten with Brentford’s one-touch passing too easily at times.
Kobbie Mainoo – 5/10
He kicked off his evening with a sublime touch and turn after receiving the ball from Onana under pressure. He is still learning his trade to play as a holding midfielder.
Scott McTominay – 3/10
Another anonymous performance from the Scotland international. His height and physicality could be why Ten Hag did not substitute him.
Bruno Fernandes – 4/10
Fernandes produced very little and failed to pull his team up when they needed a lift.
Alejandro Garnacho – 3/10
The youngster did not get into the game. He made just 14 successful passes in his hour-long stay on the pitch.
Marcus Rashford – 3/10
Rashford saw plenty of the ball but did not try to take on the defenders. He was too cautious and passive in the final third.
Rasmus Hojlund – 4/10
A tough night for Hojlund against a robust back-line, winning only two of his 16 duels. He pulled off a good stop from Mark Flekken but was starved of service.
Substitutes
Harry Maguire – 5/10
Maguire added more physicality and did well to cover for Lisandro Martinez’s error.
Antony – 5/10
He was just a few inches away from handing United the lead with his trademark curling shot.
Lisandro Martinez – 4/10
A brain-fade moment for the Argentine defender while making a clearance almost gifted Brentford their opener.
Casrmiro – 5/10
The midfielder gave away too many fouls. He increased his assist tally on Mount’s goal.
