Brazilian international wants to ‘force through’ Man Utd transfer

Manchester United have been linked with a number of possible summer transfers in recent weeks as we look to add stars to the team ahead of our 2018-19 Premier League title challenge.

We are going to make a signing or two in centre midfield this summer as Michael Carrck is retiring and Marouane Fellaini is widely expected to leave.  This would leave us with only four players in this position whilst we have predominately moved to a 4-3-3 formation following the arrival of Alexis Sanchez in January.

One player we have been linked to previously is AS Monaco’s Fabinho.  We were strongly linked with the versatile Brazilian last summer but the defending French Ligue 1 champions were seemingly unwilling to sell having lost many of their stars already during the transfer window.

Now it appears a move to Manchester United could be on the cards for the 24-year-old as talkSport are today claiming that the 24-year-old is trying to force a move through to the biggest team in English football.

Fabinho was mainly used as a right-back in Monaco’s shock title success last season but has started all 28 of his league games for Monaco in the central midfield role this season where he has proven to be an excellent asset to the club.

Nemanja Matic is our only out-and-out holding midfielder currently but Fabinho would offer us much more mobility and pace in his position.  Ander Herrera has played this role too but it’s not natural to him and he is prone to conceding free kicks and picking up cards.

Fabinho is not afraid to throw himself in front of shots and is excellent in the tackle to break up opposition possession.  Like Matic, he is also careful in possession.  He has four caps for the Brazilian national team but is not expected to be part of this summer’s World Cup.
