Borussia Dortmund are interested in signing Manchester United left-back Sergio Reguilon during the January transfer window, according to Sky Sport Germany journalist Patrick Berger.
The 27-year-old is currently on a season-long loan with the Red Devils from Tottenham Hotspur after joining in the summer, but there is a break clause in his contract which either club could activate next month.
Dortmund want to exploit this clause and have made Reguilon their top target for the January transfer window.
The Spain international has featured in ten games across all competitions for Man United so far but has not seen action over the last two games.
The return of Luke Shaw from injury is set to limit his playing opportunities going forward, and moving elsewhere could be appealing.
The Bundesliga club are looking to sign him on a six-month loan, and whether Man United will opt to activate the break clause in his deal next month remains to be seen.
Tyrell Malacia is on course to return to action early next year as he nears full recovery from a knee injury which has kept him out of action this term.
Diogo Dalot can also feature at left-back, so the Red Devils could be open to letting Reguilon leave as the deal which brought him to the club is a straight season-long loan with no fee or option to buy until June 2024.
The Spaniard has not scored or assisted for Man United, so letting him go is unlikely to hurt them.
With a return to Tottenham not on the cards, moving to where he can be guaranteed more games could convince the former Real Madrid full-back to seek an exit.
The Red Devils are expected to undergo major squad changes in 2024, and releasing Reguilon from his loan deal could be one of them.
