Boost for Man Utd as Joan Laporta refuses to rule out Ansu Fati’s summer exit

Manchester United have been handed a boost in signing Ansu Fati this summer with Barcelona president Joan Laporta refusing to rule out his exit.

The 20-year-old has made 31 appearances for the Catalan giants this campaign, but most of his playing time has come off the bench.

Amidst this, his agent Jorge Mendes has sounded out interested clubs such as United. Laporta has now opened the door for a transfer.

Speaking in a press conference today, Laporta said that Barcelona are not thinking of selling Fati ‘as of now’ but added that he ‘cannot predict the future’.

The Blaugrana president went on to confirm that there are clubs that have expressed an interest in signing their graduate through his representative.

He said: “We are not thinking of selling Ansu Fati as of now, he’s loved here — then I cannot predict the future. His agent told us there are clubs keen on signing Ansu Fati, Yes. It is clear that he wants to succeed here at Barca.”

Fati would be a statement signing for Man Utd

Fati is regarded as one of the best young talents in world football. His early career has been hampered by serious injuries but there is a lot of potential in him.

The youngster has contributed a goal or an assist in every 102 minutes in his career. If United were to sign him this summer, it would be a huge statement.

Fati is a left-winger by trade but he is also capable of leading the line. In our opinion, him and Marcus Rashford could interchange positions in attack.

The Spaniard is currently valued at €50 million by Transfermarkt, but United may need to pay significantly more to prise him away at the end of the season.

With another four years left on his contract, the Blaugrana could easily demand €100m if they were to sanction his sale in the summer transfer window.

Laporta has insisted that the club are not looking to sell him, but they could be forced to do so as they need to reduce their wage bill by €200m to comply with La Liga rules.

Fati, who currently earns €268,000-a-week, is one of the high-profile players that could leave if his playing time does not improve under Xavi before the season ends.
