A section of the Manchester United fans have praised the performance of defender Harry Maguire during the club’s 0-0 draw against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.
The Red Devils had gone into the game on the back of successive wins in the Cup competitions but they could not carry the momentum forward to end their winless run in the Premier League.
Prior to the game, two of United’s previous three meetings against Wolves this season had ended in draws and the same was the case on Saturday with the teams settling for a goalless stalemate.
Though it was a dull affair, there were positives with the club registering their third clean sheet on the bounce and Maguire was one of the standout performers at the heart of the defence.
Maguire has received the occasional criticism from the supporters this season for his positional mistakes but he was solid against Wolves with four tackles, two blocked shots and two aerial duels won, as per whoscored.
This has certainly caught the attention of some of the fans, who have taken to Twitter to express their views..
Twitter Reactions:
– Dan James needs to be benched

FT Man United 0 – 0 Wolves
Thoughts
Wan-Bissaka and Maguire superb
Bruno with a great start
Fred solid again
Missed Nemanja Matic today
Martial can’t play as a lone striker
Pogba and Rashford will improve this team massively
Pereira must be out of chances#munwol— AJ ? (@r3al__AJ) February 1, 2020
Another disappointing result today but three clean sheets in a row is a good sign. The defence seems to be gelling really well, Maguire in particular growing week by week.

Maguire today was the biggest positive. Had a few rough games in the past 6-12 but today he was superb, handled the Wolves counter attacking outstandingly well. #mufc

But couldn’t break Wolves down. There was no width in the team ,our fullbacks are a major issue. We need to sign Attacking fullbacks in the summer.
Bruno didn’t have much effect today as he was forced to play deep in the absence of Matic
Maguire And Lindelof were solid defensively.— ??Pritish?? (@Pritish09891094) February 1, 2020
Manchester United go into the mid-season break with a six-point deficit over Chelsea, who are occupying the final Champions League spot. They have the chance to make up ground in two weeks’ time, considering they will make the trip to Stamford Bridge to face Frank Lampard’s side on February 17.
