Manchester United have been handed a big boost with Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof available to face Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils suffered a 3-1 Premier League defeat to Arsenal before the international break. During that game, Martinez was taken off after the hour mark with a foot problem.
Meanwhile, Lindelof also asked to be substituted in the final stages due to an illness. United finished the game with Harry Maguire and Jonny Evans in the heart of the defence.
In an update in today’s pre-conference, it has been confirmed that Martinez is available for selection again despite sitting out Argentina’s World Cup qualifiers this month.
Lindelof is also present to face the Seagulls at home tomorrow. The centre-back played 180 minutes for Sweden recently and is expected to start against Roberto De Zerbi’s men.
Raphael Varane and Mason Mount are close to making their comebacks from injury, but Ten Hag has said that the upcoming league game will come too soon for the pair.
He told Manutd.com: “Both are in a good place. They are shortly coming [towards] a return.”
United have had a mixed start to the top-flight campaign. They have picked up only six points from the opening four games. This has included losses to Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
Ten Hag will be eyeing a strong response from his side against Brighton. It won’t be a straightforward contest as the South Coast outfit have become a bogey club for the Red Devils.
United beat Brighton in last season’s FA Cup semi-final on penalties but in the league, they have lost the last three meetings against them, including a 2-1 defeat at Old Trafford last term.
