A selection of Manchester United fans have appreciated the defensive display from Harry Maguire following the club’s 1-1 Premier League draw against Everton on the road on Sunday.
The Red Devils had the chance to go within a point off fourth-placed Chelsea with a victory at Goodison Park but that was not the case as they settled for a share of the spoils.
David de Gea gifted the Toffees with a third-minute lead after his attempted clearance was deflected into his own net following the interception by Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Bruno Fernandes managed to pull United level after the 30th-minute mark but Solskjaer’s side could not find the winner after an average attacking display in the second half.
Still, they needed someone to standout in the defence and Maguire was undoubtedly the leading performer as he won five aerial duels and made an impressive 15 clearances, as per whoscored.
The club-captain did concede an own goal right at the end, but that was rightfully chalked off through VAR after the grounded Gylfi Sigurdsson had blocked De Gea’s view while in an offside position.
Here are some of the reactions over Maguire’s display…
Today was one of those games that we’d have lost last season without Harry Maguire back there. He was outstanding again and dealt with absolutely everything thrown his way. A monster performance and he was rightly awarded Man of the Match too.

United failed to capitalise on Frank Lampard’s side dropping points in yet another game and that should disappoint the supporters, particularly after going into the Toffees clash with a good run of scoring form.
The Red Devils have an FA Cup fifth round tie at Derby County on Thursday night. Thereafter, they are scheduled to face arch-rivals Manchester City for the fourth occasion in all competitions.
United have already beaten the Cityzens in two of their three meetings this term and they need to produce another big performance in Sunday’s Premier League clash at Old Trafford.
