Benjamin Sesko completes blockbuster Man United transfer

Manchester United have officially unveiled their third marquee signing of the summer.

Benjamin Sesko has completed his highly anticipated move from RB Leipzig in a blockbuster €85 million (£73.5m) transfer.

The 22-year-old scored 21 goals in all competitions for Leipzig last campaign.

In 87 appearances for the Bundesliga side, Sesko bagged 39 goals and eight assists.

United’s director of recruitment, Christopher Vivell, played a key role in pulling the strings behind the scenes to seal the deal.

Vivell is a long-time admirer of the Slovenian striker and believes he has the potential to spearhead United’s attack for years to come.

The Red Devils have already signed Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo earlier this summer.

They will likely occupy the two number 10 spots with Sesko upfront.

Sesko has the ideal profile for a modern striker.

He possesses quick acceleration and will be a constant threat with his runs in behind defenders.

Towering at 6ft 5in, he offers a commanding aerial presence that United have sorely lacked.

He is never afraid to pull the trigger from distance, a trait that could see United score more from outside the box next season.

Sesko is still very young and raw but is capable of pulling off moments that seem straight out of a video game.

Arsenal and Newcastle United also had Sesko on their transfer shortlist.

The Magpies even submitted two proposals but the Slovenian only wanted to move to Old Trafford.

United host Arsenal in a mouth-watering Premier League opener next weekend.

It will be interesting to see if Ruben Amorim names his newest superstar in the starting XI, as he will have just one week to gel with his new teammates.
