Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic has revealed they did not even consider making a deal for Kingsley Coman amidst the rumours of the Frenchman linking with a summer move to Manchester United.
Coman’s name was included in a long list of players Manchester United had been looking to land at Old Trafford as an alternative to Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho in the summer transfer window.
United were reportedly keen to complete a loan deal for the French winger, who had just scored the winning goal against Paris Saint-Germain to hand Bayern their 6th Champions League title last August.
The former PSG forward was never close to getting sold in the summer, as revealed by the German club’s chief in a recently-given interview to SportBild.
He said,
“There was nothing, and we wouldn’t have looked into it either.
His goal in the Champions League final should explain enough why we are relying on him wholeheartedly.”
Having failed to add any big names for the right-wing options, Manchester United instead went on to secure the services of two 18-year-old wingers in Amad Diallo Traore and Facundo Pellistri on the deadline day of the summer transfer window.
Pellistri has already joined his new teammates at Carrington and will be a part of the main squad for the upcoming UEFA Champions League, while Diallo would arrive at Manchester next January after receiving a brand new work permit.
