Bayer Leverkusen star Patrik Schick emerges as interesting option for Man Utd, initial contact made

Manchester United are interested in signing one of Bundesliga’s in-form strikers this summer.

The Red Devils are poised to strengthen their forward department at the end of the season. Manager Ruben Amorim could prioritise a new striker.

Sky Sport Germany journalist Patrick Berger has now revealed that United are in the transfer market for a new number nine and prefer a younger profile.

However, Patrik Schick is also considered an interesting option. Initial contact was made, but there is nothing concrete at the current point of time.

Despite interest from Saudi Arabia, the 29-year-old prefers a Premier League move this summer.

Bayer Leverkusen will demand between £22-26 million to sanction his sale.

Schick would be a tempting choice for United

The Czech star has been in fantastic form for Leverkusen during the back end of the campaign. He has registered 23 goals from 40 appearances thus far.

Schick is more of a traditional striker. He has impressed with his positioning in the box, and has converted 27 percent of his shots into goals in the Bundesliga.

This is something that the Red Devils need next term. Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee have lacked the cutting edge in front of goal this campaign.

Schick would be an upgrade on the duo, but the big question is whether the club are prepared to sign a striker, who turned 29 at the start of the year.

In our view, Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap could be the top target. The 22-year-old can be signed for just £30m if the Tractor Boys are relegated from the top flight.

If United were to miss out on his services, the club could look for a cost-effective alternative.

They could turn to Schick, who has been in exceptional scoring form over recent months.

Schick would be a shrewd signing at £22m. He earns £99,000 per week at Leverkusen. United could persuade him to join for a slightly higher package.
